American Record Guide, November/December 2014
Suite Espagnole 2 opens the program with its nationalist melodic and rhythmic material. Along with the six Spanish Dances that follow, this is among the most characteristic and enjoyable of the composer's many works for piano. The Seasons is a four-movement suite from 1892 that presents pleasant enough landscapes. 'Champagne' and 'Recuerdos' (Mazurka) are both high class salon pieces. The first sparkles as good Viennese bubbly should; the second follows the Chopin mold, as does the Salon Mazurka and the brief Improvisation. The Berceuse, for all of its brevity, strikes a higher level of original creativity. The notes are very good.

Luxembourg-born pianist and former student of noted pianist Eduardo del Pueyo continues his survey of Issac Albéniz's Complete Piano Music with this eighth volume, consisting of works the composer wrote largely during his Madrid salon-frequenting days in the 1880s. The nationalist Spanish style he is feted for developed strongly during this period. Of many of these works, Albéniz noted, 'There are among them a few things that are not completely worthless'.

Gramophone Magazine, October 2014
He is suitably bubbly in the Champagne waltz even when unable to erase so much relentless charm. But he does too little with music that is often heavily derivative (the ghosts of Chopin and Mendelssohn and a prophecy of Lecuona's Cuban revels).

MusicWeb International, 13th October 2014
This present cycle benefits from a single pianist...[Baselga's] tempos are generally quicker than those of his competitors. This gives Baselga the edge, as it imparts to his playing an added excitement and Spanishness.
