Notes & Reviews:

Unrequited love was the wellspring of countless songs and poems in the Romantic era, and now young tenor Julian Pregardien presents his first solo lied album with a diverse program of 19th-century art songs. Certain moments are full of heartbreak, others more tongue-in cheek, as Julian invites us to join him on his exploration of the Romantic era in a quest for the (distant) beloved, from the very first song cycles by Beethoven and Weber to the height of the genre in the lieder of Wolf and Strauss.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
I found myself completely captivated by the sheer beauty of the young Pregardien's voice and almost transfixed by his evocative interpretations. I could hardly stop listening to him. The son's artistry undoubtedly will be judged in reference to his father's. He has nothing to fear. This is singing of the highest order. A most welcome release.
