Notes & Reviews:
The stylish, consistent Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires is one of the musicians who defined the Erato label in the 1970s and 1980s. This 17-CD box presents all the recordings she made between 1972-87. This box set's emphasis on Austro-German composers of the Classical and early-Romantic periods embraces solo works, piano duets, and concertos. A number of items in the collection (which features original LP/CD artwork on the individual CD slipcases) have never before been released on CD.
