Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, November/December 2014
We have an international cast here. Horigome is a native of Japan; Spanoghe is Belgian. Falletta was born in Brooklyn and directs the Virginia Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and also since 2011 the Ulster Symphony. And the orchestra is Czech. Horigome does a nice job with the concerto. She has full control over the many difficulties of the piece and plays with sweet tone and excellent intonation. The Double Concerto is generally better. The finale has a light, almost dance-like quality. At any rate the two soloists are well matched in sound, and the whole performance seems very well integrated (even the fast Andante).

Internationally celebrated conductor JoAnn Falletta leads the Czech Philharmonic in performances of the Brahms Violin Concerto and Double Concerto with soloists Viviane Spanoghe, a cello professor at the Royal Brussels Conservatoire and Yuzuko Horigome, who won first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1980.
