Notes & Reviews:

Mezzo-soprano Aidan Soder and baritone Paul Busselberg collaborate in presenting a recital of songs based on the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore, one of India's most beloved literary figures. Composers from all over the world have been compelled to set his poetry to music, as this recording amply demonstrates. John Alden Carpenter, British composer Frank Bridge, Italian Franco Alfano and German composer Karol Szymanowski all wrote songs dating from the first two decades of the 20th century that used his poetry. The recording also includes recent settings (2004) of Tagore's love songs by the young American composer Karim Al-Zand.

American Record Guide, November/December 2014
The performances are very good. Neither singer is a superstar. Each sings with great expression, exceptional diction, and effective use of dynamics. Busselberg has wonderful ease above the staff. He is pleasingly tender in Carpenter's 'When I Bring to You Colored Toys' and is quite astonishing in Al-Zand's 'I Would Ask for Still More' as he soars to a high B-flat. It is lovely. He sings with admirable delicacy. DiLiberto offers solid collaboration with a great variety of musical styles. Al-Zand won an Arts and Letters Award in Music in 2011 from the American Association of Arts and Letters that helped make this recording possible. His notes are succinct and edifying.
