Notes & Reviews:

Born in Regensburg in 1979, Leopold Hurt studied composition at Hamburg University of Music and zither and period performance practice at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. His oeuvre covers the entire spectrum of instrumental and vocal music, with the zither featuring prominently. This Wergo release offers a portrait of Hurt's output with two of the four pieces focusing on an area that has been mostly neglected - the traditional music of the Alpine area. With their varying instrumentations - from string trio (Mondrian Ensemble Basel) to orchestral work (Philharmoniker Hamburg) - these works provide a fascinating overview.
