Notes & Reviews:

From Caprice Records comes the only recording ever made of Moses Pergament's The Jewish Song. The work has never been performed as a whole since this 1974 concert performance. Composed in 1944, The Jewish Song, written for soprano, tenor, chorus and orchestra, takes us through history and switches between moods of deep bitterness, pride and confidence in the future. During his time, Finnish-Swedish composer Moses Pergament (1893-1977) was regarded as one of the major figures in Swedish art music.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
The performance is remarkable in all respects. The tenor shows incredible stamina, the orchestra is extremely powerful, and Maestro DePreist's efforts do full honor to the composer's legacy and to his own. The listener's experience is enhanced by powerful sound, notes in English, the Swedish text, and a full English translation. In his Judiska Sangen, Moses Pergament embraces not one world, but two; the one that died an unspeakable death amid the ashes, and the other that proved indestructible because of brave souls who insisted that the survival of a worthy people was the sweetest song of all.
