Notes & Reviews:

From Warner Classics' Cologne Collection comes Jacques Offenbach's operetta Pariser Leben, in which a Swedish baron and his wife fall prey to a local Parisian con man. This racy satire of a piece about fleecing tourists and sexual permissiveness has delighted audiences since its premiere, thanks to a lively score and witty libretto (sung here in the composer-commissioned German version). This 1983 recording, conducted by Willy Mattes, includes singers Anneliese Rothenberger and Marko Bakker.
