Album Remarks & Appraisals:
I may even dare to say that it was my old man's clear intention of inculcating in me that eclectic Ellingtonian spirit by playing, on his small Silvertone portable record player, the Goodman Chamber Jazz Trio with Gene Krupa and Teddy Wilson, back to back with his recorded rendition of the Mozart clarinet concerto with the Boston Symphony under Charles Munch. It seems that from all that musical variety comes the inspiration for my blues version of the second movement of the emblematic clarinet piece, recorded for the present CD, and which I premiered with the Irakere band 40 years ago.
