Notes & Reviews:

A versatile performer on the modern trumpet, Baroque trumpet and Renaissance cornetto, Jason Dovel enjoys an active musical career as performer, educator and composer. As an orchestral trumpeter, he has served as principal trumpet of the Arkansas Philharmonic and Ash Lawn Opera. Jason Dovel joined the University of Kentucky School of Music faculty as assistant professor of trumpet in 2013, where he teaches modern and Baroque trumpet, and serves as principal trumpet of the faculty brass quintet.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
Four trumpet recordings, two of them very good. One is Lost Trumpet Treasures, by University of Kentucky trumpet professor Jason Dovel. The program consists of good pieces that have few if any recordings. I like it and admire the technical skills unleashed by Dovel at the end. Of Jean Absil's three Contes (Tales), I especially enjoy the quirky II ('Conte Slave'), but III ('Conte Funambulesque') is terrific, too. I appreciate Dovel's full tone and terrific technical skills. Fine collaboration by pianist Edward Neeman.
