Notes & Reviews:

Armonico Consort return to disc on Signum with a festive selection of classic carols and hymns alongside new commissions and arrangements. Rounding off the program is Benjamin Britten's timeless A Ceremony of Carols. Armonico Consort is the largest arts organization of its type in the UK, and prides itself on working with only the finest talent. Achievement highlights of its first twelve years include: The Magic Flute at The Barbican, Vivaldi's Violin Concertos at the Hampton Court Palace Festival with Nicola Benedetti and Carmina Burana at the RSC new Theatre. A dynamic and innovative conductor and keyboard player, Christopher Monks is founder and Artistic Director of Armonico Consort. Specializing in the performance of music from the Renaissance and Baroque, Christopher's concerts and recordings have earned him several five star reviews in both The Times and The Independent. "...vocal lines can float, suspensions can melt and the listener can relax and marvel at the singers' superb breath control and rock-steady intonation ... this disc of unending delight" -Gramophone

International Record Review, December 2014
This is a collection distinguished above all by singing and playing of high quality and recorded sound that is immaculate.

BBC Music Magazine, Christmas 2014
Intimate, small-scale performances of mainly familiar titles - including Britten's Ceremony of Carols - by a choir of ten singers. Occasionally more heft is needed.

MusicWeb International, 4th December 2014
In the Britten, the balance between choir and harp is perfectly judged so that the filigree accompaniments come through loud and clear. The young soloists too acquit themselves well...If you want this particular programme it is hard to imagine it being better performed.

Daily Mail, 19th December 2014
This Armonico Consort CD is beautiful. A mixed choir of just ten voices is atmospherically recorded in St Mark's Church, Leamington Spa, with director Christopher Monks risking some very slow tempi. The singing on such favourites as Away In A Manger, In Dulci Jubilo and Silent Night is exquisite.
