Notes & Reviews:

Prior to the making of this recording in 1997, no one had performed Wallace's Creation Symphony for nearly a hundred years. In the history of the symphony in Britain, the work, which guides listeners through the first few verses of the Book of Genesis, is unprecedented in its scope and daring. Wallace's Pelléas and Mélisande Suite is a work of heart-on-sleeve passion, and yet both this suite and the equally rewarding Prelude to The Eumenides remain virtually unknown.

In these vibrant and commanding performances by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Martyn Brabbins, Wallace's impressive music sounds even larger than itself. read more

The Scottsman
It is incredible that a composer of this strength has been so overlooked. On the evidence of this recording alone he should be treated as a national treasure.
