Notes & Reviews:

Part 2 of Richard Strauss' orchestra works from the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra with conductor Sebastian Weigle includes the roguish pranks of Till Eulenspiegel as well as the less frequently performed Symphonia Domestica. Recorded in January 2012 and March 2013 at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt by the much-lauded and proven team of the Frankfurt Opera. "Weigle loves a luxuriant and sonorous orchestral sound, and his interpretation is accordingly opulent." - Pizzicato, November 2013

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
The symphony gets a well-balanced performance, with everything in proportion. This is to the good, as it sounds more like a solid mainstream symphony. He Frankfurt Orchestra is a large group, so the orchestral sound is full and rich. In my review of the Schwarz reading on Naxos (Jan/Feb 2013), I wrote that Strauss should simply have called the work Symphony 3 in F. It's well worth getting. They're concert performances. The sound is excellent.
