Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
This well-filled first volume contains his Impromptus Op. 6, Fantasy in C, Op.12, and Sonata in B minor Op. 20. There is great contrast between the two pianists; Kvapil is considerably faster and more direct. Urban is more willing to luxuriate in and caress the lovely melodies. She is also rhythmically freer, and takes a long unmarked (at least in my score) repeat in I of the sonata, while Kvapil presses ahead most of the time. In a way one could say that Kvapil looks toward the classicism of the past while Urban embraces the romanticism of the future. Both are valid approaches, and both work well.
