Notes & Reviews:

Following its dazzling, standard-setting eight-disc complete recording of Telemann's wind concerti, La Stagione here embarks on a new four-disc series dedicated to the same composer's concertos for mixed ensembles, taking us to the very heart of his oeuvre. Like Bach in his Brandenburg Concertos, concertizing by instrumental formations against the backdrop of an accompanying string orchestra evidently most greatly stirred Telemann's compositional imagination. It is with these works that the term "mixed style" unfolds in all its colorful glory.

Classical Music
Yes these concertos are grand! Schneider and his excellent players present yet another varied and involving sequence of works reminding one, if needed, just how inventive and resourceful the prolific Telemann was.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
This is the first recording in a projected series devoted to Telemann's concertos for mixed concertino, strings, and continuo. A brief survey of this program reflects the sheer variety of instrumentalists Telemann had at his disposal during his long career working in centers like Eisenach, Frankfurt, and Hamburg. Flutes, oboes, and violins figure prominently; but one also finds oboe d'amore and viola d'amore, trumpets, recorders, and even cornetto and trombones. It is certainly wonderful to hear such a variety of instruments played expertly and with such flair. Texts and notes are in English.
