Notes & Reviews:

Beat Furrer's new opera Wüstenbuch is based on several texts, from ancient Egyptian writings to contemporary authors. The Wüste ("desert") provides a base where Furrer can place his drama without a plot. The music and texts create a rich and complex atmosphere full of history and poetry. In addition to the opera, this set also includes three pieces on the second disc, giving an more detailed insight in the composer's music.
