Notes & Reviews:

This collection brings together three minimalist works for violin and piano by composers of three nationalities - the USA's Philip Glass, Georgian Giya Kancheli and Estonia's Erkki-Sven Tüür. Each explores differing facets of the genre, providing a showcase of what can be achieved within the minimalist framework. Violinist Andrea Cortesi has collaborated with contemporary composers including Glass, Brouwer and Morricone, among others. Marco Venturi leads an active career as a concert pianist and is also becoming an increasingly sought-after choral and orchestral conductor.

American Record Guide, March/April 2015
An engaging program of three recent works played by two young, highly accomplished and versatile musicians, recorded in excellent sound. Erkki-Sven Tnnr's 10-minute Conversio (1994) begins as a repetitious, quasi-minimal unfolding of an E-minor scale with intricate rhythmic relationships between violin and piano. Kancheli's Time and Again (1996) is a long and gripping, meditative work that often contrasts raw, violent swipes of sound with silence or more serene musical textures. Philip Glass's three-movement sonata (2008) is a fine example of the recent flood of chamber music from Glass's autumn years. The musicians are remarkably adaptive to the three very different aesthetics of these composers, and they play with great joy and fine musical and expressive detail.
