Notes & Reviews:

A magic moment in the history of classical music: Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim - both from Buenos Aires - team up for a duo recital at Berlin's Philharmonie. A reunion of the two classical superstars after more than 15 years THE concert highlight from Berlin's fully packed Philharmonie on the occasion of the "Festtage der Berliner Staatsoper 2014".

Breathtaking performance.

The Guardian
Stravinsky originally wrote the Rite of Spring in a two-piano version and one of the first performances was given privately by the composer and Claude Debussy. [... ] Argerich and Barenboim [... ] surely possessed even better technique than Stravinsky and Debussy and their commitment could hardly be exaggerated.

American Record Guide, March/April 2015
Here we have two pianists whose careers began as child prodigies in their native Buenos Aires. They are now part of an elite group of septuagenarians considered among the greatest pianists of the past century. They were 7- and 8-year-old wunderkinds who played children's games together under the table at chamber music soirees, as well as playing music with adults. Barenboim recalls hearing Argerich (at age 8) play Chopin's C-sharp minor Etude, Op.10:4 "with exactly the same fire and brilliance she plays it with today". Argerich marveled at her 7-yearold friend as well: "Daniel played everything. His huge repertoire was already amazing." I find it incredible that it wasn't until 1980s that the two performed together professionally. This is a very special recording made in concert on April 19, 2014 at the Berlin Philharmonie. Parts can be viewed on-line and a DVD is also available.
