Notes & Reviews:

Violinist Jack Liebeck brings his formidable technique to the first of three albums for Hyperion focusing on music by Max Bruch. This program, volume seventeen in the acclaimed Romantic Violin Concerto series, presents one of Bruch's most popular pieces for violin and orchestra, the Scottish Fantasy, alongside one of his least known, the Violin Concerto No.3. Anyone hearing Liebeck's performance may well wonder why this concerto has been neglected for so long.

The Guardian, 23rd October 2014
Jack Liebeck and conductor Martyn Brabbins work hard to make the music come alive. Liebeck's playing is consistently fresh and his phrasing always imaginative.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
I have reviewed the Scottish Fantasy a great deal lately. I really like the music; I even wake up in the middle of the night with it going thru my head. Yes, I had a Scottish mother and grandparents, and I naturally like Scottish melodies. The Scottish Fantasy certainly deserves better than this.
