Notes & Reviews:

Stephen Layton and Polyphony have a special relationship with the music of Arvo Pärt. The extraordinary purity of Polyphony's singing is the perfect vehicle for music of such clean, elemental simplicity, such cathartic calm. Their recording of Triodion and other choral works won a Gramophone Award and became a cult classic. The selections on this album span nearly five decades - from 1963 to 2012. A range of biblical texts are set alongside ancient prayers, and the works feature several different languages.

Gramophone Magazine, October 2014
This one is something special. In part this is because of the choice of repertoire, which mixes the familiar and the less-often heard, and includes two first recordings, and in part it is because of the exquisite sound produced by Polyphony...Highly recommended.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
Layton and company, as before, apply their long-vaunted choral virtues in full measure here; I can hardly imagine these pieces done better. Hyperion's impeccable engineering captures the ensemble's incredibly precise, clear-toned, and exquisitely nuanced delivery perfectly.
