Notes & Reviews:

Twenty-year-old clarinetist Raphaël Sévère, blessed with a magnificent technique and glowing tone, is featured on this album of chamber music by Brahms. He is joined by pianist Adam Laloum, whose previous release on Mirare already explored Brahmsian twilights. Together they demonstrate that, in the burnished autumnal colors of the Clarinet Sonatas, the composer chose the instrument to bid a melancholy farewell to the world. Cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière joins the duo for the elegiac Clarinet Trio.

American Record Guide, January/February 2015
The French musicians are very sincere and have lots of ideas, but they often implement them at the cost of good rhythm. The fast movements have superb energy, yet some lyrical passages relax too much, sometimes slowing to a crawl. Julien-Laferriere is fully professional, boasting a rich tone, beautiful phrasing, and a keen knowledge of the score. Laloum boasts fine touch, assured presence, and wonderful dynamic flexibility.
