By the age of 18, French cellist Anne Gastinel (b. 1971) had performed in over 50 cities throughout Europe, won 1st prize of the Int'l Competition of Scheveningen and became the first French artist in 40 years to reach the Int'l Competition of Prague finals. Shortly after her appearance on the 1990 televised Eurovision Tournament in Vienna and the Rostropovich Competition in Paris, Ms. Gastinel pursued a solo career which took her on annual worldwide tours around Europe, Africa, Asia and America. This 5CD box set gathers together her milestone recordings of Romantic era masterpieces.
