Gunar Letzbor's recordings of the Partitas of J. S. Bach, accomplished once again under the violinist's special and exacting circumstances in 2011, mark Volume 2 to Pan Classics' 2013 release of the Bach Sonatas. Use of a baroque violin, exacting placement of specially chosen microphones within his home recording environment and much studying of first-hand sources related to the considerable French influence on the dance culture in Germany in the first-half of the 18th c. and its relationship to the playing of these works is discussed in depth in the accompanying booklet.
