Many important Jewish composers lost their lives in the Holocaust, Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942), one of the greats of his generation, being but one among many. This disc features his Third Sonata from 1927, among other works. Israeli pianist Michal Tal enjoys an intensive and versatile international career. She is invited frequently for concerts and masterclasses in the USA, the Far East and Europe, as well as judging in international piano competitions. Dr. Tal's huge repertoire expands from Haydn to Ligeti and Berio, along with numerous premieres by Israeli composers.

American Record Guide, July/August 2015
Michal Tal studied with Richard Goode, Gilbert Kalish, and others; she got her doctorate at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She is engaged and spunky in her playing, expressive in everything. The sound is close-up but not dry. Notes are in English.
