Notes & Reviews:

Pentatone's continuing reintroduction of the innumerable significant gems that make up the 1970s Deutsche Grammophon back catalog, sounding never so fine as they do as a result of the label's herculean efforts and technological acumen, now produces the six Brandenburg Concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach in performances accomplished by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by one of the eminent violinists of his generation, Pinchas Zukerman, who, like his oft-musical partner, the pianist Daniel Barenboim, has led a highly successful double-track career as a conductor of note.

American Record Guide, September/October 2015
Pinchas Zukerman recorded these for DG in 1977 with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. They - the strings especially - make a wonderful rich sound. Zukerman is less square than the Germans, more expressive, but his tempos are actually faster. I felt a great relief to hear such a beautiful sound. Warm, human Bach - wow! I think I've said enough to tell you whether you would like these.
