Notes & Reviews:

The young and aspiring Trio Früstück presents itself as versatile on its debut CD and underlines its musical maturity both in Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 26 in C minor and in the Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor op. 101 by Johannes Brahms. Apart from prizes at international competitions, the three musicians Clara Frühstück, piano, Maria Sawerthal, violin, and Sophie Abraham, cello, can already look back on a number of works especially dedicated to their ensemble by contemporary composers, such as the Caprice (VI) ‘mosaïque’ for piano trio to be heard here by Thomas Wally, born in Vienna in 1981. Written after a period of keen interest in Olivier Messiaen, this work combines both sound impressions and technical elements of his musical diction, a diction that the Trio Früstück commands just as effortlessly as that of Haydn or Brahms.

American Record Guide, March/April 2015
Their Haydn trio is the best I've reviewed. For some reason, Haydn trios are often played without joy, but Fruhstuck seems to love every minute of it. In particular, in I they play each variation with a distinctly different personality, as if they were discovering it for the first time. Their Brahms is delivered with massive power, but also with taste. The pianist shows herself to be a real powerhouse, performing her demanding role with muscle and breadth. The big story here is the Caprice by Thomas Wally (b. 1981).
