Notes & Reviews:
Following in the footsteps of Dutilleux, Barraud and Hersant, composer Laurent Lefrançois works at Radio France as a producer. Although he is steeped in the programs and concert broadcasts that he puts on the air, he did not acquire his training only on the job. He was taught orchestration and composition by Michel Merlet at the École Normale de Musique and studied harmony and counterpoint with Stéphane Delplace. He states, "In my music you can find traces of those I love - Stravinsky, Jolivet, Varèse - but I don't do 'in the style of...'" This disc of chamber works shows the breadth of his skill and inspiration.
