Notes & Reviews:

For the anniversary of maestro Vladimir Spivakov, Firma Melodiya presents a unique, previously unreleased recording of the Moscow Virtuosi chamber orchestra made on 28 December 1988 at the Big Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The pre-New Year concert of 1988 was a fundraising event to benefit the Armenian children who suffered in the earthquake.

American Record Guide, July/August 2015
This is a complete concert from 1988, now issued to celebrate Mr Spivakov's 70th birthday. It's solid, satisfying Bach that makes a significant nod to period performance practices (PPP) without going overboard. Spivakov adopts brisk but not insanely hurried tempos that keep the music moving along, and the Virtuosi play well enough. Pletnev's lively Concerto, it is enjoyable.
