Notes & Reviews:
Gregor Meyer, Gewandhaus Chorus A.D. since the 2007/08 season, is currently dedicating himself to the composer Johann Kuhnau (1660-1722), beginning a projected complete traversal of Kuhnau's cantatas, many to be recorded for the first time, including all present on Vol. 1. He interprets the cantatas together with his Opella Musica ensemble and the camerata lipsiensis. "... an important musical facet of the transitional phase... between the 17th c. sacred concerto and the late baroque sacred cantata... " (from the booklet notes by renowned Bach scholar Dr. Michael Maul)
