Album Notes

Offering up an evocative mix of silver screen originals and previously issued pop hits that add color and nuance, Sony's Now That's What I Call Movies rounds up 58 familiar pop/rock screen gems culled from films released in the 1980s, '90s, and early 2000s. Despite a severe lack of Kenny Loggins ("Footloose" is great, but where is "I'm Alright" and "Danger Zone"?), the three-disc set is well-stocked with iconic movie hits, from Bryan Adams ("[Everything I Do] I Do It for You"), Huey Lewis & the News ("Power of Love"), Berlin ("Take My Breath Away"), and Celine Dion ("My Heart Will Go On"), as well as cherry-picked classic rock hits like Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" (Almost Famous), Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle with You" (Reservoir Dogs), and Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" (The Full Monty). ~ James Christopher Monger
