Notes & Reviews:

the ground beneath our feet was recorded live at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. - the namesake of Stravinsky's masterwork - and revisits the concept of the concerto grosso through this eclectic program that reflects the diverse interests and talents of The Knights. In addition to celebrating the 75th anniversary of Stravinsky's chamber concerto, the album also includes Steve Reich's exquisite Duet for Two Violins & Strings and Bach's Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C Minor, as well as two pieces whose composers include members of the orchestra: Siamak Aghaei and concertmaster Colin Jacobsen's Concerto for Santur, Violin and Orchestra, and the collaboratively-written ...the ground beneath our feet. The Knights are an orchestral collective, flexible in size and repertory, dedicated to transforming the concert experience. Engaging listeners and defying boundaries with programs that showcase the players roots in the classical tradition and passion for musical discovery, The Knights have, as The New Yorker observes, 'become one of Brooklyn's sterling cultural products, [and] are known far beyond the borough for their relaxed virtuosity and expansive repertory.'
