Notes & Reviews:

This recording brings together music by Johann Sebastian Bach with works by his students Carl Friedrich Abel and Johann Ludwig Krebs, composers who were not only friends and associates of Bach, but also members of families with which Bach was closely connected. These pieces show the many ways in which Bach was connected to his students, including writing music for them to perform, aiding them in finding employment, and promoting their music.

Hailed as "one of the world's greatest violists", and "one of the foremost violists of her generation", Helen Callus continues to captivate audiences with her lyrical tone, technical command, and profound artistry. Sought after as a recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist, Ms. Callus has performed with such world-class ensembles as the Tokyo and Juilliard String Quartets and the BBC Concert Orchestra, and delighted audiences around the world, in Russia, Europe, New Zealand,Australia, Canada, and throughout the US.

Never short of ideas when it comes to offering concert programs imbued with authenticity and refinement, Luc Beauséjour is an exceptional harpsichordist and organist. "The naturalness of his harpsichord playing, the remarkable attention he gives to proportions and to a singing quality have made him a one-of-a-kind artist." He is a highly soughtafter musician not only for his virtuosity and the subtlety of his playing, but also for his outgoing personality and the ease with which he communicates with his audiences.

American Record Guide, May/June 2016
Helen Callus's recording is another shocker. She plays with virtuosity and vibrato. The inclusion of works by Bach students Johann Ludwig Krebs and Carl Friedrich Abel is a nice touch. The Krebs is one 7-minute Andante, and the suggestion that it was written for two keyboards goes unexplained as does the Abel.
