Album Summary
Mendelssohn, Felix : Psalm 42, Op. 42 "Wie der Hirsch schreit"
Mendelssohn, Felix : Hora est
Dvorak, Antonin : Te Deum, Op. 103/B 176Notes & Reviews:
"Psalm 42 is possibly the finest of Mendelssohn's many psalm settings. At least that was Robert Schumann's opinion. It is essentially a cantata with alternating choruses, arias, and recitatives...As always with Helmuth Rilling, the choral discipline is superb. Rilling's recordings of Bach with a good-sized mixed choir like this tend to sound old-fashioned, but a better sound for Mendelssohn could hardly be imagined." -Gatens, ARG
