Notes & Reviews:

It was in 1680 that the organist of the Marienkirche of Lubeck wrote this highly unusual work for performance in the setting of his Abendmusiken. Over the course of this cycle of cantatas, the imaginary observer of Christ's sufferings gradually directs his gaze upwards, from the feet to the face. A classic of German Baroque sacred music, this budget priced reissue features a 2006 recording by Cantus Cölln.

Early Music Review, February 2015
This was one of the first attempts at a one-to-a-part MJN and remains one of the best. Cantus Colln were on top form here.

The Guardian
It's a curiously beautiful work, and somewhat less morbid than you might imagine...The performances, with Conrad JunghSnel conducting his Cantus C÷lln, are flawless.

BBC Music Magazine, Awards Issue 2015
Junghanel was an early adopter of the one-per-part approach...and the intimate scale is beautifully judged, though occasionally upper voice solos sound a touch 'bleached'.
