The soundtrack to the popular television series Wolf Hall is by Debbie Wiseman, who has written scores for other BBC productions. The story takes place in the 16th Century (Anne Boleyn, Thomas Cromwell and that royal crowd) about the machinations and skullduggery of court life. Modern pianos, harpsichords, and violins add romance and harmony. These instruments probably sound more appropriate and appealing to modern audiences, and they don't detract from the drama. I noted only a few memorable themes. 'Cromwell's Theme' has a martial sound and is repeated more than once. For dramatic purposes this might be fine. Excellent recorded sound and a booklet with limited notes and track listings.
