Released in celebration of his 80th birthday, 2014's The Song Is My Story finds pianist Abdullah Ibrahim performing a live solo concert at the legendary "Fazioli" grand piano company in Italy. Recorded during his visit to the company in the summer of 2014, the 17-track album captures the journeyman jazz artist on piano, as well as two tracks on saxophone. Lyrical and intimate, this evocative concert showcases Ibrahim's distinctive, classical-influenced, free improvisation style. ~ Matt Collar
