Notes & Reviews:

The winner of the 2103 German Music Competition: this is the young cellist Jonas Palm, who is now presenting his debut CD with GENUIN. One understands why he impressed the audience and jury so much: with a large, resonant sound he plays the cello sonatas of Beethoven and Mendelssohn, the sound-searching miniatures of Lutoslawski and the mysterious tales of Janacek. Palm and his wonderful pianist Philip Heiss turn the world around themselves, complementing each other, and merging into one: intimate chamber music happiness.

American Record Guide, July/August 2015
This program is played by the young winner of the 2013 German Music Competition. He chose the pieces well. Each one is full of beauty and personality; and he and Heiss play them with passion, humor, and accuracy. I should add mystery, since the three solo Strophes by Henri Dutilleux, Leos Janacek's Fairy Tale, and the slow movement of the Beethoven Sonata are full of that feeling, portrayed with beauty by the players and recorded in a lovely sound. Altogether this is a fine introduction to a talented young cellist.
