Notes & Reviews:

This varied piano recital release from the Bella Musica label of keyboard works stretching across three centuries and spotlighting six composers highlights the playing of the doyen of German pianists, Prof. Manfred Reuthe. A Berliner of impeccable degree, he has taught for over 40 years in addition to giving concerts and recitals all over the world, yet his playing remains fresh and vigorous still. His recital programs often feature the virtuosic works of the 19th c. Romantic piano tradition, including those by the Austro-German Romantics and the French Impressionists.

American Record Guide, September/October 2015
I highly recommend this for pianists learning Scarlatti - the best of a broad and varied program. His Scarlatti is fantastic: crisp and light yet fluid. He captures the improvisatory nature of L 457. Reuthe creates effective contrasts in the energetic L 104. The same clear melodic lines and precise rhythms appear in Durante's Sonata 6. Chabrier's 'Bourree Fantasque' is incredible for its speed and transparency. There may be more mellifluous, colorful recordings of Chopin's Barcarolle and Debussy's Estampes and this recording is worth the purchase.
