Notes & Reviews:
This is the debut album by Ekaterina Gavrilova, the fast-rising Russian soprano currently soloist at the Voronezh State Opera. Her recital, recorded Feb.-Mar. 2014 at the Voronezh Musical College Concert Hall, is a seventeen-song affair, opening with two songs of Franz Liszt followed by three Richard Strauss songs, all famous, and a dozen more by the crème de la crème of 19th c. art song practitioners, including Schubert, Schumann and Fauré, and one song, Iris by Daniel Wolf, of modern vintage.
American Record Guide, September/October 2015
A program of well-known pieces of the song repertoire. Gavrilova has a nice voice. Lytkina plays with energy and warmth.
