Notes & Reviews:
Walther von der Vogelweide is among the most important of Middle Age Minnesänger and Sangspruch (sung speech) poets. Finding melodies for Walther's poems is a most exciting undertaking, for few such melodies are known. Sabine Lutzenberger and the ensemble PER-SONAT have under-laid some of Walther's poems with his own melodies, others with music of his contemporaries, completing fragments and reproducing several melodies in the style of the period. The sources extend from the 13th c. to the Meistersang. Listeners can now experience Walther's magnificent poetry, sung for the first time on CD.
