Far from home is the moon: China's culture in the reflection of the European song - songs by Haas, Braunfels, Roussel, Lambert, Bortz et al. / Lydia Leitner, soprano; Fan Yang, piano

Notes & Reviews:

"Fern der Heimat ist der Mond" reveals to listeners the most diverse, colorful and nuanced settings of ancient Chinese poetry accomplished by composers from all over Europe - Italy, Germany, France, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and England - during the 20th c. Together with soprano Lydia Leitner and mezzo-soprano Alexandra Paulmichl, pianist Fan Yang, who is also responsible for this compilation, presents a selection of twenty-eight finely crafted and representative songs that show the importance and necessity of intercultural exchange between poetry and music.
