Album Remarks & Appraisals:
Orange Mountain Music presents the premiere recording of Philip Glass's 1991 score to Errol Morris's film A Brief History of Time, which explored the life and work of scientist Stephen Hawking. This film marked the second of three famous collaborations between composer Glass and director Morris; the first was A Thin Blue Line and the third was The Fog of War, which won an Academy Award for best documentary. This 56-minute score for orchestra captures the ethos of Hawking's journeys into the furthest realms of scientific thought and Morris's probing cinematic style.
