ROMANTIC MOMENTS is the ideal CD for a romantic dinner or glass of wine with a friend. Familiar melodies come back like old friends, and a slightly over-resonant production makes André Rieu's sound seem nostalgic, old-world and comfortable. There is nothing heavy or depressing here, and what's wrong with a little lightness every once and a while?

Many of the works are arranged by Rieu, some with orchestral accompaniments and others with just piano. The 'Wiener Lied' is particularly charming and of course the slow movement of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto is gorgeous. This CD is more syrupy romantic than serious classical, and is therefore best listened to with someone who you find a little distracting.
