Notes & Reviews:

Maria Lettberg confesses to being dependent on, or even addicted to, Scriabin's music. In 2003 she began to record all of the piano music by Alexander Scriabin which featured opus numbers. Within four years she had produced eight CDs. In 2012 she followed them up with the CD 'Opus Posthum' featuring the early works of Scriabin. Now, to mark 100 years since his death, she is releasing a very personal homage CD entitled 'Poème de l'extase'. Alexander Scriabin takes centre stage in this production with his work, 'Poème de l'extase, op. 54', completed in 1908. A work that Maria Lettberg feels represents the entire creative output of Scriabin.

Lettberg chose relatively unknown composers, such as the jazz musician Harald Banter and the musicologist and Scriabin researcher Manfred Kelkel. Manfred Kelkel's "Tombeau de Scriabine op. 22" was commissioned in 1972 by Radio France for the 100th anniversary of Scriabin's birth. Harald Banter grapples with Scriabin's idea of the act of creation of the cosmos.
