The Organ in Florence, from the 15th - 19th Centuries / Gabriele Giacomelli, organ

Notes & Reviews:

The celebrations for the 150th anniversary of FlorenceCapital of the Kingdom of Italy (1865-2015) constitutean opportunity to know and appreciate the voices ofthe two precious organs preserved in the basilica of SanLorenzo (the Serassi was inaugurated for that 'historicalevent), and the music composed by musicians active inFlorence. The organ built by Fratelli Serassi in 1864is one of the most impressive of his time: with morethan 60 registers and three keyboards, is a really uniqueand extraordinary organ. The other Renaissance organdates back to the mid XV century and expanded in theXVI and XVIII. The recording includes works from theRenaissance up to Classicism and Romanticism, amongwhich many are premiere recordings mostly comingfrom libraries and archives in Florence.
