London-born saxophonist Wayne Escoffery studied with Jackie McLean at The Hartt School and attended the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory. During this time he toured with Herbie Hancock and performed and studied with several jazz greats. In 1999, he moved to New York to begin his professional career. Today he is best known as part of trumpeter Tom Harrell's quintet. On this live recording, Escoffery performs with his own quartet which includes David Kikoski on piano, Ugonna Okegwo on bass and Ralph Peterson Jr. on drums. The set features Escofferey's own "Concentric Drift" as well as tunes by Keith Jarrett, Willard Robinson, Gus Arnheim and Billy Strayhorn.
