Notes & Reviews:

The Russian-born, Paris-residing countertenor Alexis Vassiliev, initially forming his singing in the 19th c. tradition, subsequently developed his superior technique to accommodate a desire to also sing the music of earlier times. He is now recognized for his expressiveness and exceptional intensity in an extensive repertoire of 17th-21st c. music. Partnered with pianist Katia Nemirovitch-Dantchenko, Tchaikovsky's Secret is devoted to the composer's lesser-known but no less special Mélodies, expressions of a tormented, suffering soul sung by a singer uniquely able to express their drama.
