Notes & Reviews:
Karl Bohm recorded these key works of Franz Schubert in his prime between 1973 and 1976, and they reveal him as a natural Schubertian, full of freshness in performances that are bright and classically done. This remarkable film reflect the naturalness and clarity of Karl Bohm's conducting, as he and his beloved Wiener Philharmoniker bring unique warmth, wit and wisdom to every bar. Schubert composed the 'Mass in E Flat' as well as the 'Great C major Symphony' in 1828, the year of his death. This Mass is widely considered Schubert's finest church composition.
