Notes & Reviews:
2 CDs. A new complete opera for Bocelli's ardent fans, complete with the biggest tenor aria of all time: Nessun Dorma. In this new and much-anticipated complete opera recording from Andrea Bocelli, the tenor assembles a fine cast to explore Puccini's last opera, including American soprano Jennifer Wilson as Turandot. Taking the lead role of Calaf - the unknown prince - Bocelli's powerful tenor tells a compelling story of riddles answered, triumph secured, honor displayed, and love deeply felt.
American Record Guide, November/December 2015
Zubin Mehta has recorded Turandot at least twice before: the famous Sutherland-Pavarotti recording and the spectacular outdoor production staged in Beijing. The company gathered for this recording produces, for the most part, a more-than-adequate performance. Best of all is Mehta himself. He obviously knows the score well, and he elicits fine orchestral playing and superior choral work from his Valencia forces. Mehta singers and players respond well to his leadership.
