Notes & Reviews:
In what is probably his most accomplished opera, freely based on historical characters, Handel probes with many facets of the human soul. 'Giulio Cesare' boasts a breathtaking succession of hit arias along with one of Handel's most sumptuous orchestral scores, vividly performed here by Lars Ulrik Mortensen and the period-instrument 'Concerto Copenhagen'. Superstar counter tenor Andreas Scholl is magnificent as Julius Caesar and he is supported by a superb young cast.
